Why Independent?

Are you upset with our current political system?  Feeling hopeless that whoever you vote for, they care more about their political career than your family?  Angry that, whoever makes election promises and receives your vote inevitably fails to carry through on those promises or respond to your calls and emails?

It is time for the citizens of BC to stand up and tell our political representatives that we need to see democracy in action.  Right now, political party electoral candidates are bound, first and foremost, to being loyal to their party.  I saw this firsthand during my time with my ex-party!  Unfortunately, this means they are not allowed to vote against the party, or speak out on issues with which the party disagrees.  This is not democracy, this is a group of people protecting themselves (and their pensions) at the expense of the wellbeing of their constituents.

If you vote for me as your independent candidate, I have no loyalty to any other party, nor do I want to. My promise to you is that I will listen to your voice, discuss your priorities, and vote in accordance with my beliefs, and the beliefs of the residents of the Kelowna-Mission riding.  I will have the flexibility to vote with any party on a given day, based on what my constituents want, and on what makes financial and social sense for Kelowna. â€‹â€‹

What about splitting the vote?

If you look at the promises being made by the four provincial political parties, you’ll notice that they are much like a group of five year-olds playing soccer.  As soon as one party latches onto an issue, the others all follow and steal their ideas.  All four parties are largely socialist, regardless of their name and the colour of their logos.

I don’t want your vote if you believe that one of these parties cares about you, and will make your life better.  I only want your vote if you have given up on politics, and have decided you want to try something different.

Never voted before? Stopped voting because politicians make you feel like you've entered the slime zone?

I’m your woman – politicians make me feel disgusted and dirty as well!  I invite you to research all of your Kelowna-Mission candidates, and decide who best will represent you in Victoria.  A few questions you might ask yourself, as you look at their websites and social media:

1

How long has this candidate lived in Kelowna?  Does he or she have a good sense of the issues in our city?  Has he or she ever expressed any interest in the needs of an average person in Kelowna?

2

Does this person speak for the ordinary person?  Or does he or she seem to have special connections to a level of people that you and I are never privy to?

3

What has this candidate done in his or her professional life?  Have the other candidates run successful businesses over a long period of time?  Have they ever been involved with a business that went bankrupt or failed?

4

What has this candidate said in previous elections?  Does it align with what he or she is saying now?

5

Has this candidate always been loyal to one political party?  If not, why did he or she move to a different party, and does that reason resonate with me?

6

Who do I think will represent my interests best?  Do any of these candidates seem like they are more concerned about their political career, than our city?  Do these individuals call me or email me back when I have a question?  Do these candidates represent themselves with integrity, and defend the members of society who need it the most?

7

Does this candidate spend time talking to ordinary citizens?  Or does he or she seem more interested in padding his or her resume, schmoozing with Kelowna’s elite, and generally using people for his or her own agenda?

8

Does this candidate need this job, or do they want it?  What is their agenda in running for office, and does it involve making our city safer and more affordable?

You deserve more!  Stop expecting the bare minimum from politicians, and elect someone who will be accountable to you.  Don’t trust me?  I don’t blame you!  Give me a call or shoot me an email, and we can talk about it!  And, please check my Upcoming Events on a regular basis so you can come and meet me in person!
